As part of its ever-aggressive Asia-Pacific expansion plan and in line with the Singapore government's initiative to internationalize and go global, the Modern Montessori International (MMI) Group collaborated with India's Jaipuria Group, headed by Chairman Ravi Jaipuria, to develop the Montessori Method of Education in the world's second most populated nation.

With over a billion people residing in the country, more than 30% of which are aged below 15, India presents itself as a vast, untapped market with endless opportunities for early childhood educators to explore.

On January 19 2003 in New Delhi, MMI officially entered a joint venture agreement with Jaipuria, who is also the sole franchisee for F&B giants Pepsi Cola and Pizza Hut in North India and Nepal.

The joint venture signing was witnessed by Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Singapore Minister for Education, who also inaugurated MMI India's new campus in Gurgaon (Haryana State) on September 15 2005.

The new campus, with the capacity to house 500 children, boasts a four-storey building that serves as a pre-school, teacher-training centre and administration office. Facilities include Montessori-equipped classrooms, a playground and a functional clinic.


The inauguration ceremony was graced by Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Singapore Minister for Education.	Mr. Tharman cutting the ribbon to officially inaugurate the new building.
